I don’t know about Y’all, but after the holidays are over I have an abundance of goodies sitting on my kitchen island.
Almost like they are just begging me to eat them every time I walk by. So you know me…I look at them and think…what can I turn that into?
Such was the case with a dozen Cake Doughnuts….. they were just screaming to be transformed.
This literally only took me a few minutes to mix together.
The hardest part of this recipe is having to wait while the mixture is soaking overnight.
Doughnut Bread Pudding
10 Egg’s, beaten
1 Cup Heavy Cream
1 Cup Milk
1/2 Cup Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Apple Pie Spice
1 Tablespoon Vanilla
8-12 Cake Doughnuts, cut into pieces
*Vanilla Cream Syrup
In a mixing bowl whisk together the eggs, cream, milk, sugar, apple pie spice and vanilla. Place cut pieces of doughnuts into a shallow baking dish that has been lightly greased. Pour egg mixture over top the doughnuts. Pressing doughnuts down “into” mixture to make sure all doughnuts are covered. Cover pan with plastic wrap and chill overnight.
The next day remove from refrigerator, remove plastic wrap. Let set 30 minutes at room temperature, before baking at 350 for 40-45 minutes. You can serve this warm from the oven or cold. Either way you will love it if you serve it with my homemade
Vanilla Cream Syrup and a dash of powdered sugar.
