I’ve been wanting to make this for dinner for months now. However with the temperatures here in Nevada still hitting the 100 degree mark, I just couldn’t bring myself to turn on my oven even for 30 minutes. So of course the minute the weather man said things would “cool down” to the high 80’s….I knew what I was making for dinner! This pepperoni bread is so simple to put together with the use of frozen bread dough. Or if you have the time, make the dough from scratch! You can find my favorite Bread recipe HERE.
What could be any better than a bite of this deliciousness? Golden brown crunch of crust on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. Loaded with the perfect blend of sauce, pepperoni and gooey cheese…..Oh My Flipping Heck….YUM!
This is a perfect meal to serve of those busy week nights where it seems everyone in the house is heading in and out the door at different times. It takes little prep time and just a few ingredients.. PLUS if you make up some extra, they freeze wonderfully!
Pepperoni Bread
1 loaf Frozen Bread Dough, thawed *(or make your own Bread Dough )
2 Cups Pizza Sauce
1 lb. Pepperoni slices
2 Cups Mozzarella Cheese, shredded
Parmesan Cheese, Optional
Preheat oven to 350
On a floured surface roll out dough into a large rectangle. Spread pizza sauce over dough evenly.
Next add pepperoni slices, and top with cheese.
Start rolling up dough, by “pulling” dough on the long side and folding over onto it’s self. Slowly repeat this process until you have a long roll. , or individual pockets. Pinch seams and ends together. Place onto a parchment lined lightly greased baking sheet. Cut several slits on to the top of the roll to help the air vent as it is baking. I like to then brush the top of the dough with olive oil and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese. Let bread sit for 15-30 minutes to rise.
Bake for 28-30 minutes. Let bread rest for 5 minutes before cutting and serving.
If you are wanting to make some to freeze, after filling the dough and shaping it, place onto a sheet pan and freeze for at least 1 hour. Once the are firm, wrap in plastic wrap and place into a freezer bag. When yo are ready to use, remove from the plastic, let dough thaw and rise. Bake as directed above.
