During the Fall /Winter months I am a sucker for fixing Breakfast for Dinner. I have no idea why, it just sounds warm and filling. And the bonus is that it takes no time at all to prepare. My husband loves to have homemade biscuits and country gravy with sausage. I’m sharing with Y’all my short cut to making your very own dry country gravy mix! This is so simple you are going to love having a jar full on hand. *Plus it makes a great gift!
Homemade Country Gravy Mix
1 Cup All Purpose Flour
1 teaspoon Garlic Salt
1 teaspoon Black Cracked Pepper
1 teaspoon Onion Powder
1 Tablespoon Chicken Bouillon
1/4 teaspoon Poultry Seasoning
1/8 teaspoon Paprika
**Add to Dry mix for Gravy
2 Tablespoons Butter
2 Tablespoons Dry Country Gravy Mix
2 Cups Whole Milk
Sift together all the dry seasoning with flour. Store in a jar or air tight container.
To prepare the gravy, all you need to do is melt the 2 Tablespoons of butter along with 2 Tablespoons of the Dry mix in a skillet to make a roux. Whisk in the 2 Cups of Milk.
If you are going to make Sausage Country Gravy, cook the sausage in the skillet first. Remove sausage and drain off excess grease. Proceed with the directions above, stirring in the cooked sausage when you add the milk. Continue stirring until gravy thickens. Serve hot over homemade biscuits. ~ Enjoy, Lark
