My Southern Adventure was full of Sight Seeing…. However it wasn’t to any of the normal “tourist hot spots”. I was lucky enough to have a personal tour guide that catered my trip to items of my own interest’s. Jyl had made a list of things I had mentioned that I wanted to see or do. And Boy was it a list! Everything from seeing a real live Piggly Wiggly Store~
To looking through a Old Time General Store like Huck’s~
Or how about all those old time vintage Five and Dime stores?~
All three of these stores scream of old times in the south, your neighborhood stores where you could find anything from food, candy, silk flowers to fabric. It was a treasured memory to take a step back in time looking through these stores. One place I was really looking forward to going to was Mckay’s Book Store. Jyl has told me about this magical place a couple of times and I was eager to see it for myself. McKays is a two story Used Book Store! Needless to tell y’all, because I am sure I have mentioned once…okay maybe more than once just how much I love books. Especially Cook Books! I LOVED this store. I have to admit I made Jyl take me back for a second visit before I left. (lol) ~I may or may not have mailed home 3 boxes of books….just saying 😉 *Note that Jyl is standing in the cook book section. The whole isle on both sides all the way down were only cook books! I about died!
I hope you will continue to visit and read along as I share more about my Southern Adventure in the coming days. ~Lark
