Cheddar Garlic Biscuits
3 Cups All Purpose Flour
2 TBSP Sugar
3/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1/4 Cup Heavy Cream
1/4 Cup Shortening
1 Stick Butter
1 1/2 Cup Cheddar Cheese~ shredded
1 TBSP + 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Salt
1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
1 Cup Milk
*Optional 1/2 stick melted butter + 1/2 tsp. Garlic Salt to brush on tops of baked biscuits
Preheat oven to 450 degree’s
In a large mixing bowl sift together all dry ingredients. Cut in shortening and butter with a pastry blender or a fork, until mixture is the size of peas. Then stir in cream and milk. Make sure to not over mix the dough, you want it lumpy. Place dough onto a lightly floured surface, roll out dough to a 1-2″ inch thickness. Cut into desired shape. Place onto a lightly sprayed cookie sheet. Bake to a golden brown about 10-12 minutes. ~If desired brush tops of hot biscuit’s with the melted butter/garlic salt mixture. Serve hot.
DELISH! These are great to make into finger sandwiches, just add slice of ham!
