Ever since I saw these at my favorite Home Goods store, I have wanted to figure out a way to make them at home. I just couldn’t justify spending $6.99 for a pack of 4 !
So I went on a “hunt” to find a easy yet delicious recipe for Hot Chocolate on a Stick……
guess what?….I found one! These were so easy to make. I just know y’all are gonna want to get all the ingredients RIGHT AWAY so you can make yourself a batch.
*I adapted the recipe from King Arthur Flour* I added a dash of Cinnamon and Mocha extract to this first batch. However I am going to be making more and adding in different flavors. I think I will try out Orange, Raspberry and Mint for starters. The sky is the limit!
Lark’s Hot Chocolate on a Stick with Homemade Peppermint Marshmallows |
I will be sharing my Homemade Peppermint Marshmallows recipe with y’all in a couple days. You’re really gonna be surprised at how easy they are to make. **I plan on making up Neighbor gifts with these Hot Chocolate on a Stick and a Bag of Homemade Peppermint Marshmallows…..Won’t you be my neighbor? (sorry it just had to be said)
This recipe will make (36) 1″x1″ squares. I don’t recommend that you double this. I would make several batches if you need more than that. Also I poured mine into a 9×5 loaf pan instead of a 9×9. This made them “taller”/thicker.
Hot Chocolate on a Stick
1/2 C. Heavy Cream
1 (14oz.) Sweetened Condensed Milk
3 C. Semi Sweet Chocolate Chips (You can mix this up too, 2 C. semi./1C. Milk )
1 (4 oz.) Bar of Unsweetened Chocolate
1 TBSP Mocha flavoring (use any flavor you like)
Dash of Cinnamon
In a medium size sauce pan mix together the cream and condensed milk.
Stirring often until it begins to “steam”. (DO NOT BOIL)
Remove from heat and add all the chocolate, stir just enough to cover the chocolate.
Set it aside for 10-15 minutes. While you are waiting lightly spray your loaf pans with pam. After the time is up you will then return it to the heat on low/med. whisking it until all pieces of the chocolate are melted. Stir in your flavoring and cinnamon.
Pour 1/2 the mixture in each pan. Spread evenly and smooth the top.
Here is the “hard” part….now you have to let it set up for at least 6 hrs.
Or just do what I did and make this up before going to bed and let it set overnight.
Remove it from the pan and cut into (6) pieces.
*To get nice smooth cuts, dip your knife in hot water to heat the blade.
I like to add the sticks at this point.
Then it is just a matter of slicing them into squares. SEE…SUPER EASY!
Then you can package them on up and attach a tag telling them to add their Hot Chocolate on a Stick to 6-8 oz. of Warm Milk.
Make sure to make enough for yourself as well….Enjoy the Holiday Season Friends!
